A five member Canadian indie band got started in the small southern Ontario city of Burlington, Walk off the Earth didn’t gain widespread notoriety until last year when their YouTube cover of Gotye’s Somebody That I Used to Know went viral.

The cover video garnered over 145 million hits on YouTube, and featured all five band members playing the song on one guitar. Since then, they have traded the community guitar in for individual instruments with a single of their own, Red Hands.

“This is one of the most diverse and innovative acts that has started to bubble under over the past couple of years. The multi-part harmonies, versatility of musicianship of the whole group, this band is raising lots of eyebrows and generating quite a buzz,” says Mix 104.1′s music director, Mike Mullaney.

“Anytime you generate 50 million plus YouTube views as an unsigned act, everybody HAS to take notice,” Mullaney continued.

The entire video for Red Hands was shot out of sequence in one take, and then rearranged to become the final video below.

Walk off the Earth is headed on a European tour in March and April. Their first full-length album, R.E.V.O. comes out the third week of March on Columbia Records.
